Disclaimer
To the past, present, and future players
I'll be honest. It's scary bridging geekdom and clinical psychology, two of my favorite worlds, further together through a creative product, and therefore needing to speak Legalese. Adding my license (I am a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, #118975) and disclaimer to something that's deeply personal and natural to me feels... unnatural and impersonal. That is only until I remember and consider the real importance of transparency and safety for players. So, this next section is here to help ensure that you are receiving the right type of experience you are looking for from the right places by explaining what Source of Dreams is, and what it is not.
Source of Dreams is an educational and entertainment product inspired by clinical concepts, designed to be used for personal enjoyment, growth, and learning. Source of Dreams and content on this site is for general educational and informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you're looking for emotional support of a deeper and/or long-term nature, please reach out to a licensed professional in your area directly.
Purchasing or playing Source of Dreams does not constitute a therapist-client relationship between you and I, but, like any other game, with intention and proper training, it could be used as a tool within a therapeutic relationship you have with your own licensed clinician. If a licensed clinician uses this game as a part of treatment, the relationship exists between you and your clinician, through written agreement. Source of Dreams is not a substitute for therapy, nor does it constitute treatment in and of itself.
As geek culture and psychology have increasingly begun to co-evolve and grow out into the wider world, it's truly heartening to know that I'm not the only one who has been seeking growth and connection within the intersection of these spaces. I am humbled to be a member of the growing community and hope to contribute in a way that promotes more play, imagination, connection, and spirituality in people's lives.
